The tradition of HomboBatu is one of the cultural icons of Nias that had been known internationally. Recently the tradition of hombobatu is still maintained as element of culture and as one of tourism commodities of Nias Island. In reality this cultural tradition is loaded with values called local genius wisdom which be can utilized to improve the quality of human resources. This research is qualitative descriptive research. Field notes, interviews and documentation are the instruments used in data collection. The data was analyzed based on Miles and Huberman theory. The results obtained are the tradition of hombobatu has 2 (two) values that are very important, namely the value of motor skills and the value of social and cultural skills. Those skills are very useful for improving human resources. The recommendation that can be given by the researcher is the tradition of hombobatu should be preserved and not only introduced as a commodity of tourism and culture, but also to foster organizational culture to improve work ethic of human resources.
